Introduction to WORKSHOP WAY®
This course is intended to be an overview of the system’s six elements. Participants will create materials and learn how to operate this system of human growth for education.

WHAT WILL THIS WORKSHOP PROVIDE TO TEACHERS?

It will help teachers learn ways to:

Set up classrooms where children

  1. Come in every morning and begin working on assignments within minutes.
  2. Are guaranteed individual attention everyday.
  3. Understand that wrong answers don’t diminish intelligence.
  4. Are encouraged to take risks, to be responsible for their own actions, and learn to
    manage their own lives.
  5. Want their parents and the community to be involved and the teacher
    encourages this involvement.

Train teachers in the use of unique teaching techniques

  1. How to use our homework system that guarantees to build responsibility.
  2. How the classroom Schedule of Tasks becomes the organizational structure that
fosters initiative and independence and frees the teacher to teach in small group
sessions that can accommodate various learning styles.
  3. How these small group sessions are called six groups and we have various ways
you will be trained to use this process.
  4. How to use “cushioning language” will be explained and this covers the
way a teacher speaks to the children. WW believes that all children can learn
and when they are treated with respect, they give back respect. Therefore, so
called “discipline”, in time, begins to revolve into students respecting each
    other.
  5. How to nourish listening skills using the once principle and a bell system that
helps eliminate the need for constant directions.
  6. How a structured time schedule can give the optimal opportunity for children to
grow human growth skills. WW understands that every school has time
constraints, but we can help you develop a time frame suitable for your district.
  7. How to incorporate parental involvement, which has a special part to play in our
program and we will help develop this participation.
  8. How to develop what WW calls “teacher artistry”, which makes life more
pleasant for both the student and the teacher.

This Introduction to Workshop Way not only teaches all of the above but also helps teachers make materials to use when implementing this system. It takes at least 20 to 30 hours of instruction to learn this process.

A whole school may participate or an individual teacher may join others for a workshop.
