Moveable Markers® were created by Grace H. Pilon, PhD, founder of WORKSHOP WAY as a way to teach mathematical properties with manipulatives so students of all grade levels could have a deeper understanding of number.  Directions in how to use these manipulatives is included.

Description

This product is for all grade levels.  There are masters for zeros, ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions to print what is needed for this quiet manipulative to teach number sense.  Included in the downloads is a booklet, File #2, with ideas of how to teach place value, expanded notation, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and beginning algebra.

The teacher decides how many pages to use.  For example: Kindergarten will probably only use zeros, ones and tens. Grade One will use zeros, ones, ten and hundreds, etc.

Each page of the student download, File #4, is to be printed on 8.5″ by 11″ blue card stock in the quantities needed for the age and number of students in the class. Print the student sheets double-sided for ease of use once all the cards are cut apart. Each student will need 15 of each number.

Each page of the teacher download, File #3, is to be printed single-sided on 8.5″ by 11″ blue card stock in the quantities needed. The teacher will need 10 to 15 of each card to build numbers.  The teacher can use these in a pocket chart or to place magnets on the back to use on a white board.
